Edgeborough School celebrates in style! - September 2006

One hundred years of history was the central theme of a really exciting day at Edgeborough School in Frensham, last Saturday. Beginning with the opening of the magnificent Centenary Building, a state of the art Science and Technology Centre, by the Mayor of Farnham, Councillor David Attfield, the day continued with a wide range of exhibitions and displays. These included a hot-air balloon, and a show-stealing appearance of a Chinook helicopter from RAF Odiham.

Over two hundred former pupils returned to their school, including some octogenarian representatives of the earliest days of the school when it was in Guildford. Not only former pupils: Michael Burton-Brown, Headmaster from 1971-1992 was present with his family as were a number of former teaching staff and matrons.

The culmination of the celebrations was the cutting of a centenary cake on the terrace of Frensham Place and a lovely anthem by the Edgeborough choir ‘Peace to the World’.

The Headmaster, Richard Jackson, spoke of the unique atmosphere of Edgeborough. ‘We have a great many Edgeburians here from all eras,’ he said, ‘and there is no greater tribute to the magnetism of a school than that. I am very proud to be a part of this wonderful tradition, and congratulate all who have worked so hard to make this day the outstanding success it has been.’
