Sleeping Beauty at Edgeborough
There is nothing like the atmosphere of a pantomime (Oh yes there is!) in a school, and the Lower Prep boys and girls at Edgeborough made the very most of it in their musical production of Sleeping Beauty.
The age of the cast - predominantly nine and ten year olds – was ideally suited to this performance, and the standard of acting and singing was extremely high throughout. Cecelia Boultwood was superbly wicked as the evil ‘Nightshade’ and Lara Keville and Louis Madle were hilarious as the plumy-mouthed King and Queen. Charlotte Sawkins (Nursey), Harry Bowden and Alex Pritchard (Lord Chamberlain), Miles O’Donnell (Prince Valentine) and Claire Cowan (Beauty) all displayed great confidence and stage presence in their various roles.
The show exuded enthusiasm, energy and a high level of skill. Congratulations must go to the production team of Caroline Elworthy (Producer), Derrick Fockens (Musical Director) and Keri Knight (Choreographer) for a real triumph. ‘The entire show reflected the enormous talent and teamwork involved’, said the Headmaster, Mr Richard Jackson, ‘but most important of all the enormous enjoyment felt by everyone!’
