Sporting Feats at Edgeborough - July 2006
The weather smiled on Edgeborough School in Frensham last Saturday as they held their annual Upper and Lower Prep Sports Day. The standard of athletics reflected the beautiful conditions and a number of school records were broken. Edgeborough is traditionally strong at the throwing events and there were some excellent performances by both boys and girls in the javelin, discus, shot and cricket/rounders ball competitions. Perhaps the highlight of the day, however, was an excellent Under 14 boys high jump contest which was won with 1 m 58.
Edgeborough are the current 7 Schools Champions in West Surrey and the quality of the performances was evident. Four boys have already qualified for the National Prep Schools Championships in Birmingham, and there are high hopes for the girls in their trials on Thursday. The Headmaster, Richard Jackson praised both children and staff. ‘Performances like these only come from committed children working with dedicated staff,’ he said. ‘This was a very impressive display and I congratulate Will Newman, our Director of Sport, and his excellent team, on organising such a wonderful event.’
