In this part of the school, the length of the day is extended and the curriculum broadened to build on the educational foundations established in the Nursery and Pre Prep.  Additional provision is offered for those requiring either Learning Support or Gifted and Talented extension.

Lower Prep
The Lower Prep comprises Years 3 - 5, ages 7 - 10. Parallel classes are situated in the spectacular stable block. Year 3 pupils enjoy a mixture of specialist teaching and of strong direct academic and pastoral input from their class teacher.  Older pupils maintain a close contact with their class teacher but are taught increasingly by subject specialists.

Upper Prep
The Upper Prep consists of Years 6 - 8, ages 10 - 13.  They are taught in purpose built subject specific classrooms, including a new science laboratory, ICT suite, library, art studio and design centre with Computer Aided Design technology. These facilities are coupled with a music centre, performing arts theatre, dance studio, and sports hall to provide all round outstanding facilities for all pupils in the school. Pupils are prepared for Common Entrance and Scholarship exams at 13+ and entrance exams at 11+. Edgeborough pupils have a strong record of gaining academic and sporting scholarships along side those for music, art and drama. 

Throughout the prep school years, considerable emphasis is put on the development of thinking skills and on learning how to learn! Emphasis is also placed on Language development. English provision is strong. Some of the humanities curriculum is taught in French to develop confidence and vocabulary and complements the exceptional exchange programme we enjoy with Ombrosa School in Lyon. Latin is introduced in Year 6.
