Edgeborough Pastoral Care

At Edgeborough we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Our aim is to provide exceptional pastoral care embedding a sense of independence, self-reliance and confidence where mutual trust and respect between pupils and staff are the fundamental guiding principle and above all encourage good citizenship.

There is a superb network of support that children can turn to. The children are nurtured and supported every step of the way to identify their niche. There is a strong pastoral framework in place; as well as having prefects there is a fulltime matron day and night to discuss any medical needs as well as Form Tutors who have a direct overview of how your child is and performing. There are also the Houseparents’ and Assistant Housemaster within the boarding house and Deputy Headmasters during the day. We also have four GAP Students, usually from the Southern Hemisphere, who are in their late teens and can become very useful “big brothers or sisters” to many pupils.

Identifying a person that your child can talk to and feel understood and supported is important and we encourage children to be open with their Form Tutors as well as pastoral staff around them such as the Deputy heads, Head of Boarding and Headmaster to empower them to achieve their full potential. Edgeborough has a school listener who is an active and accessible member of the school and is very discreet and someone to talk to confidentially should the occasion arise.

We have wrap-a-round care where children can take part in breakfast club and late activities and through to boarding should they wish to. The important message we want our children to take away is that they can grow and feel safe and supported in a nurturing environment with wonderful opportunities along the way. If on occasions there is a bump we are there to help them.
